As part of the Defence Select Committee's session on the Armed Forces Covenant Report 2021, I asked the expert witnesses about the provision of services for veterans in devolved administrations. From my own experience, veterans in Wales do not have the same access to support as those in other parts of the UK. For example, there is still no Veterans Commissioner in Wales, leaving veterans worse off.
The witnesses for the session were:
- Lt General Sir Nick Pope, Chair at Cobseo (The Confederation of Service Charities), a group that represents the whole serving and veterans community.
- Charles Byrne, Director General at the Royal British Legion.
