"... Salvation for humanity" says the Prime Minister talking about the coronavirus vaccine at Wockhardt.
On Monday, 30th November, Sarah Atherton MP welcomed the Prime Minister to Wockhardt on Wrexham Industrial Estate to showcase their contribution to the roll out of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.
The plant in Wrexham has the capability to produce around 300 million doses of vaccine a year and preperations to produce 150,000 vials a day of the vaccine have been underway for weeks.
Commenting on the visit, Sarah Atherton said:
"Wockhardt has had huge success and I was pleased that I was able to return with the Prime Minister. Indeed, this is a shining example of the UK Government’s nationwide approach to fighting the virus and I am proud to see a Welsh business play it’s part.
"This momentous event today highlights the extent in which Wrexham has played a pivotal part in the UK's fight against coronavirus. I congratulate Wockhardt on this brilliant achievement. This is a victory for Wockhardt and the UK in our fight against the virus which has taken so much, from so many."
Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said:
"This could, if we're lucky, if everything goes right - be available just in a few weeks.
"This could - and I stress could - really be the salvation for humanity, these vaccines, not just this one but obviously all the vaccines that are currently being developed."
