In the 2016 Brexit referendum 59% of Wrexham voted to leave the EU. 3 Years on and this preference was endorsed in the recent European election. Wrexham needs someone in Parliament who is able to work with and influence the Conservative team in Government to ensure that Wrexham capitalises on funding and opportunities.
Check out my article in the Wrexham Leader below:
In the 2016 Brexit referendum, 59% of Wrexham voted to leave. Three years on and this preference was again endorsed in the recent European election, where the largest vote of 37%, went to the Brexit Party. This was 4% above the national Welsh average.
Wrexham's desire for the UK to leave the European Union is beyond debate.
The current race for the Conservative leader, and our new Prime Minister, has been whittled down to two candidates: Johnson and Hunt. As an 'original' Brexiteer, I believe Boris is the most driven and qualified of the candidates, to deliver a successful Brexit transition for the UK.
Now fast forward to the pending Brexit negotiations and beyond. Wrexham needs the best possible representation in Parliament, to ensure the needs of it's people and economy are understood and served, in the post Brexit UK.
Wrexham needs someone who is able to work and influence the Conservative team in Government, to ensure Wrexham capitalises on funding and opportunities.
The current representation in Westminster with a Remain stance, a lack of party direction and post-Brexit vision, is unlikely to deliver the economic and social opportunities, and securities Wrexham deserves.
Wrexham has been sidelined for nearly 18 years but the next election will be the chance for real change, in a new UK.
