Those of us who eventually get to access the NHS services will have nothing but praise for the care we receive from the doctors, nurses and support staff. Indeed, public sector workers form the backbone of our society.
However, a freedom of information request has shown a shocking increase in cancelled operations across Wales.
Over the past four years nearly 170,000 operations have been cancelled and a 7% increase since 2015/16.
Welsh Labour Government run Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board, which has been in special measures for more than 4 years, has seen the biggest rise in cancelled operations, a shocking 31% increase since 2015/16, with a total of 38,930 operations cancelled in four years.
The worst performing disciplines being gastroenterology, clinical oncology and ophthalmology.
The impact of getting your operation cancelled is unmeasurable. you are left in pain, anxious, often out of pocket, inconvenienced and not knowing when it will be rescheduled.
It is unacceptable that BCUHB is the worst performer in Wales and the people of Wrexham should not have to accept this level of service for a fifth year!
The blame is firmly placed on the leadership of the health bored, not their dedicated staff. Is it time for yet another vote of no confidence against Welsh Labour's Minister for Health, Vaughan Gething?
