Wrexham Council update on traffic calming measures/ pedestrianisation on High Street, Wrexham:
Chief Officer Environmental and Technical, Darren Williams: 'Since the end of November 2022, we have put in place a temporary closure of Yorke Street and High Street on both Friday and Saturday nights (6.00 pm to 6.00 am) to limit traffic entering this location during its busiest times. We are working closely with North Wales Police who are present in the location during these times. Currently these closures are being facilitated with temporary signage; however it is our intention that the junction of High Street/Yorke Street will soon have removable bollards installed which will prevent people from moving the signage to get through. It is proposed to continue these temporary closures until April/May for the time being – during which period we are seeking feedback and comments (particularly from local businesses). We will then be able to take an informed view about the longer-term plans for traffic in High Street.'
