Following the recent closure of the UK Government’s Private Parking ‘call for evidence’, I have been working hard with the Levelling Up Minister, Jacob Young MP to ensure progress is made. Sadly, I know too well the devastating impact that unfair parking fines can have on shopping areas like Island Green in Wrexham. Especially as we approach the festive period, now is more important than ever to have shoppers in Wrexham, rather than travelling to neighbouring towns and cities!
In February last year, the UK Government was set to introduce a new ‘Code of Practice’ to help protect motorists and keep cowboy private parking firms in check. Having worked tirelessly with the UK Government and relevant Ministers to ensure Wrexham residents are protected, plans had to pause due to legal challenges from private parking companies. I will continue to lobby the Minister to introduce the ‘Code of Practice’ and once I receive any updates, I will inform residents via my website and social media.
