As residents will know, I have been working tirelessly to try and find a resolution to the Welsh Government’s phosphates policy which brought all new housing and business development to a standstill for the past two years. Following the news that an environmental permit has been issued to Five Fords to deal with the phosphates issue, Wrexham Council can now start to address the planning backlog meaning that much-needed housing and business investment can now start to be built in Wrexham.
As such, on Friday, I had a really interesting visit to the Five Fords Waste Treatment Plant to speak with the team. It is great to see that they now have the headroom and are increasing their treatment capacity to deal with phosphates. Starting to address and prepare for any potential future issues that may occur as Wrexham grows. Brilliant team who are passionate about what they are doing, cyclical economy to ensure there is less waste, producing gas to go back to the National Grid. They are also ensuring the public is educated as they worked with 100,000 children last year. Thanks to the team.
