Some may remember that back in July 2022, the previous Minister for Brexit Opportunities and Government Efficiency visited Wrexham, the agenda being ‘Growth in Wrexham’. During the visit, we discussed the potential to bring a Ministry of Justice Civil Service Hub to our new city under the Places of Growth Scheme. Back in December last year, I asked the Secretary of State for the Cabinet Office for an update on the progress of bringing a Civil Service Hub to Wrexham during Questions in the House of Commons.
As time has gone on, discussions have gone quiet, and I am determined to keep the ball rolling. As such, last week, I had a constructive meeting with the Secretary of State for Wales, David TC Davies MP, the Chief Executive Officer at Wrexham Council, Ian Bancroft and the Council Leader at Wrexham Council, Cllr Mark Pritchard asking for an update on this issue and I’m pleased to say that finally some progress is being made
