Since her election in December 2019, Sarah Atherton has been a strong voice for those who have served our country. Following her recent appointment as Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Armed Forces Covenant, she has pledged to show her continued support for Armed Forces personnel.
The APPG for the Armed Forces Covenant has cross-party support and is committed to ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
Commenting on her appointment as Vice-Chair, Ms Atherton said:
“I am committed to supporting our Armed Forces personnel, and their families, for the valuable contribution they’ve made to our country.
“Having served in the military, I know all too well the burden it can place on family life. I will use my position to ensure that service personnel and their families get support they need, and that they are not disadvantaged by their service to our country.
“I am incredibly honoured to have been appointed at the Vice-Chair for the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Armed Forces Covenant. I look forward to working cross-party with colleagues in Westminster to ensure that the UK is the best place in the world to be veteran.”
Sarah currently sits on the Defence Select Committee, where she is leading an inquiry into Women in the Armed Forces: From Recruitment to Civilian Life.
