Five years ago today, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) become the first Health Board in Wales to be placed in special measures; the highest of three levels of intervention the Welsh Government can take.

“The Welsh Labour Government has failed the people of North Wales; no health board should be left to languish in special measures for half a decade. The lack of progress is unacceptable and is an insult to our hardworking NHS staff in North Wales.
“We need a thorough review and a clear and comprehensive roadmap, with a timetable, of what needs to be achieved and by when, to get BCUHB out of special measures.
“I will continue to lobby the Welsh Labour until these changes have been made and that the people of North Wales get access to the level care they deserve.”
