I was pleased to be joined by the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies and Jeremy Kent, the Welsh Conservatives Senedd candidate for Wrexham, on a visit to Net World Sports in Wrexham to hear about their successes over the past year.
Net World Sports, a sports equipment company based in Wrexham run by the thirty-three-year-old Alex Lovén, has had its most successful year since they started trading nearly thirteen years ago. In a year where many businesses have sadly closed their doors due to the challenges posed by the first lockdown in March, Net World Sports have gone from strength to strength by doubling their turnover from last year, employing 85 new staff since the start of the year, and now actively pursuing expansion plans. During the visit, we toured the facilities and met with Alex Lovén and the staff to hear, first-hand, the stories and successes of the past year.
During the visit, Alex Lovén, Founder and CEO of Net World Sports explained, to us that lockdown and the pandemic forced Net World Sports to adapt, taking all sales online and diversifying the products sold. Mr Lovén said he was, "grateful" for my support and was "pleased" that I was able to facilitate the event.
On a personal note, I was also thrilled that the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives accepted the invitation to visit Net World Sports to champion the success of Alex and the team. Net World Sports is a true Covid success story, and the visit today recognised this, showcasing the talent and innovation that Net World Sports – and Wrexham more widely – has to offer.
It was also great to be joined by Jeremy Kent, the Conservative candidate for Wrexham at the Senedd election, who I know will make a great Member of the Senedd and an excellent advocate for our town in Cardiff. Jeremy’s business-focused mindset will complement that of the party in Wales and at UK Government level, and I look forward to working with him more closely going forward.
