On Thursday, 22 October Sarah Atherton MP met with the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, along with other MP clinicians to discuss their experiences of returning to the NHS frontline during the coronavirus pandemic.
During the meeting Sarah Atherton, who returned to nursing at Wrexham Maelor Hospital during the outbreak, highlighted the excellent role that pharmacists and local pharmacies in Wrexham have played during the pandemic and how this could be further expanded upon to meet patients growing needs.
Commenting on the meeting Sarah said:
"It was a pleasure to be able to share our experiences of returning to the NHS frontline and to raise issues affecting North Wales along with Dr James Davies who returned to his GP practice in neighbouring Denbighshire.
"I'm delighted that the Prime Minister was very perceptive to the idea of expanding the role of our pharmacies to meet the growing needs of the public. This pandemic has highlighted to us their expertise and how this could be put to further use to the benefit of the community."
