Following the news that Gresford Road in Llay will be closed from Monday 17th January for 5 days to allow for work on the Crown crossroads upgrade/Aldi development to progress, I have written to residents with further information as Llay residents were not informed of this closure by the Council. You can read my letter to residents below.
I am also disappointed that Council Officers did not inform me of this closure earlier, despite the fact that I met with them only last week to discuss the progress on the Crown crossroads (among other things). So far, I have also received very little information about the road closure and have actively sought more information about the Council's plans so as to inform residents. However, the Council has not been forthcoming with further information.
The Councillors, on the other hand, have been brilliant!
Any further updates I receive will be published here, on my website, and on my Facebook.
UPDATE: Friday 14th January:
Further to the above, Cllr Rob Walsh has kindly passed on the below, which may be of assistance:
Gresford Road will (in theory) be closed next week (Monday-Friday) whilst work is done to the new Aldi entrance. Next week`s road closure will be an "Access Only" one, not a full road closure. The purpose of the road closure will be there to deter excess traffic. There will still be access to Gresford Road both by car and by foot for residents. This also applies to emergency services, bin wagons & school buses, as they will have access too. There maybe problematic times in the middle of the day where access will be more difficult due to the nature of the works. This is will be more so on the final day (Friday 21st) I am cautiously optimistic but on guard for any issues next week. So the general message for next week is don`t use the Crown end of Gresford Road unless you have to. But if you have to, you can do it.
Aldi will also be sending out a letter to residents, which I have attached below.
