Levelling Up

In March 2021, the Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a £4.8b capital scheme for ‘high value local infrastructure investment’ from the UK Government to level up towns and cities.

I am pleased that Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) submitted a bid, which I have assisted with and am fully supporting, that will revolve around the already approved Masterplan for the Wrexham Gateway

Since I raised my question with the Prime Minister directly at PMQs about Wrexham Council’s Levelling Up Bid for the redevelopment of the historic Kop Stand at the Racecourse Ground, we have been working very hard to ensure its success.

From the beginning, I have been engaging with Wrexham Council, local stakeholders, and community groups to discuss the bid and how to maximise our chances of winning.

The Stadium for the North project is vital, as it would allow the Racecourse Ground to play host once again to international sport. I have been heavily involved with the combined elements of the scheme since the start and am fully behind this project. I am very proud to have been one of the first people to sign the online petition and I will continue to promote it by working in every way possible to take this forward with No.10.

Attending Wrexham AFC FA Trophy final

It was great to be with my colleagues, Sir Bob Neill MP and Gareth Bacon MP, at Wembley supporting Wrexham AFC for the FA Trophy final.

Whilst it was not the desired result for Wrexham AFC, I commend all the players, staff and supporters involved.
