I am extremely concerned to hear that the North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority is consulting on the future provision of emergency cover for Wrexham – with one option seeing our third appliance under threat once again. That would leave our city with one whole-time pump and crew, and one retained pump and crew – which would not always be available. This is unacceptable for a city the size of Wrexham. I am seriously concerned that, if this decision goes ahead, the safety of Wrexham residents would be compromised.
I would urge everyone in Wrexham to make your voice heard and respond to the consultation, which can be accessed here: Emergency Cover Review - Have your say - About Us - North Wales Fire And Rescue Service (gov.wales)
To send a strong message to North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority, I have launched a petition to save Wrexham's firefighters and our second fire engine. I will present this petition to the North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority as part of the consultation process. Please feel free to share with your friends and family, as the more signatures we can gather, the stronger our collective voice in Wrexham.
