I completely understand the concerns of residents and businesses about Wrexham’s town centre and that’s why I’m campaigning for more investment in our town, a reduction in homelessness and changes to parking. I’m continuing my support for local businesses - we have so many in Wrexham, and they all make Wrexham the special place that it is.
What I have done to improve our local economy and high street:
Wrexham receives £20million from the UK Government Towns Fund
Renewing our high street:
- Held a public consultation to find out what constituents want from the high street in Wrexham, following calls from businesses to pedestrianise the street.
- Wrote to Cllr David A Bithell, Deputy Leader of the Council & Lead Member for Environment and Transport to outline the findings from my recent consultation regarding the pedestrianisation of the High Street in Wrexham.
Supported the renovation of a derelict building to a Christian Community Centre in Wrexham:
Campaigned for Wrexham to receive the UK Government's second round of Levelling Up Funding:
Pleased that the UK Government awarded Wrexham Council over £200,000 from the 'Community Renewal Fund':
- Pleased to announce that £122,000 of the funding will go into Wrexham town centre's 'Vibrancy Fund'.
Called for improved accessibility in and around the town centre:
- Met with Wrexham resident, Neil Tunnah, and a representative from Wrexham County Borough Council to better understand how town centre accessibility for those with disabilities, such as those who are visually impaired, can be improved.
- Met with the disability lead Councillor for Wrexham Council, discussing the alterations that have been made and how future built environment in Wrexham will consider disability access and active transport.
